America has now been my second home for almost a decade. The country has been likened to various things by various people; for some it is an idea, for some it is freedom, for some it is an opportunity. For me it has been an inspiration, an inspiration to pursue the gallivanting life I always dreamt of and an inspiration to travel the country’s many contours and discover the stories hidden in their depths.
I love road tripping through the pale gold cornfields of American Midwest and the red-painted deserts of the great Southwest. The dramatic skylines of Chicago and New York, the glitter of Las Vegas, the glamour of Los Angeles and the blues of New Orleans enchant and seduce me. The Gulf Coast which I call home tempts me with its bounties of shrimp, crawfish, crabs and lobsters. This is America through a traveler-in-residence’s eyes.
