Qatar’s ranking as the richest country in the world per capita income is evident in the sprawling roads and well maintained infrastructure. It has made its way into the 21st century by virtue of its futuristic skyline and oil exploration revenues without losing sight of its Bedouin heritage; the government has taken significant efforts to reconstruct ancient souqs and depict pearling past and wooden dhows in its public art.

Qatar is still making its mark as a great tourist country. Tourist information and in-depth itineraries aren’t that freely available, many tourist attractions are closed for renovations, many public art projects are not promoted and the nascent skyline still has room to grow. Free tourist visa program by Qatar airways and selection as 2022 FIFA host will go a long way in promoting Qatar as a tourist destination.
