So S-boy turned 20 months over the weekend and C & I spent a lot of time reminiscing over how extraordinarily fast the time flew and how he scrunched his nose as a baby (still does it & so do I) and how he signaled when he was hungry – like Simon’s cat! I swear he would paw his fist in his mouth and literally mew just like that adorable cat does. C & I would be in fits of laughter even as S wailed and mewed. What? You don’t know about Simon’s Cat? She’s the most adorable cartoon cat I have ever seen.
Then we couldn’t help but go over his 1st birthday and that awesome road trip to Florida Keys. (Have you noticed, our thoughts somehow always turn to travel?) We had rented a convertible for the occasion and S loved being in the top-down car. He had just begun noticing birds at that time and loved to see them fly while we drove. Also the breeze lulled him to sleep. That was also the trip when he first discovered the ocean, beach, sand and waves. We visited 4 beaches during our trip and he had a great time at each one. He had just started walking a month ago; he spent the whole time running in and out of the water and chasing the sea-birds. That trip will always be remembered for another adventure, we had to evacuate Miami and change plans mid-trip for Hurricane Matthew. (The whole account is coming up soon, I promise.) There was another S-boy at that trip, my friend’s son S who is same age as our S. Both boys enjoyed their 1st birthday trips and had lot of fun camping and playing in the sand. Now our S-boy is learning to ride his first balance bike and my friend’s S-boy is talking up a storm. Don’t babies grow up way too fast?
So anyway we spent the day in nostalgia and then started thinking about what to do for his 2nd birthday. Should we go someplace special? Or celebrate with a birthday party with his friends at the new daycare? Or take him to a petting zoo since he is in love with the animals? Does anyone have any other awesome ideas? We are open to suggestions!
